In October 2024 we ran the 3rd International Sloth Symposium, the hosting venue was Chester Zoo in the UK. The team were amazingly helpful and facilitated our every need allowing our carefully curated learning plan and global experts to produce an amazing event.
We had expert speakers from all over the globe and were lucky enough to have experts from Costa Rica, covering everything from Reproduction and conservation work at their facility.
We had real insights into Sloth behavior and conservation from the founders of reputable conservation projects.
We had 50 delegates from all over the world come to attend, learn and contribute towards the collective knowledge, along with the team from the Zoo being able to attend.
The symposiums have now had over 200 hundred delegates pass through the lessons over the last 3 years.
In addition to the normal 2 day husbandry program we added a Vet day which was highly successful and had 2 expert Vets sharing their knowledge, this was especially useful as Vets such as Dr Andrés Bräutigam, who has medically managed and rehabilitated hundreds of Sloths got to share his experience.
Delegates also got the opportunity to have a tour of the brand new science facility including various labs and to discuss its uses with the team.
